Decorative, Rugs: Scandinavian Rugs for Badstrand Café
Posted by: maxon - 31-07-21, 03:10 PM - Forum: Buy Mode Objects - No Replies

This is my third post for the Garden of Shadows Christmas in July event 2021 of CC I made.  I made a cafe lot for Infinite Iterations (details here) and I went a little mad and made 12 recolours of the Nengi65 rug mesh (look, there were so many nice terxtures!  I could have made more!).  I like this particular mesh because you can recolour a complete rug pattern (many EAxis meshes are doubled up in the mapping meaning they have to use symmetrical patterns).  There is a copy of the meshes if you need them here - these are my own edits of the meshes and are not quite the same as the original files as adapted I them for my own use.  There is an explanation of what I did with these meshes on that thread.

The download is split into two to reduce the filesizes for download, 6 recolours per rar.

This is my fourth post for the Garden of Shadows Christmas in July event 2021 of CC I made.  I made a café lot for Infinite Iterations (details here) and I made some abstract art recolours of ThreadandSandpaper's It Will Last Longer Mesh.

Basta Cafe Walls plus Nordic Cladding for Badstrand Cafe
Posted by: maxon - 31-07-21, 02:45 PM - Forum: Walls, Floors and Terrain Paints - No Replies

I made these walls for the Garden of Shadows Christmas in July event 2021.  I made a cafe lot for Infinite Iterations (details here) and there were two lots of walls to go with it.

Basta Café Walls
The first group is called Basta Café walls.  These are a remake of some walls I made a (very) long time ago and I'm much happier with these neater, better textured versions.  They are for an interior of a cafe and feature nice coffee brown walls with a coffee cup logo and birch trimmings.  There is also a cream version of the plaster wall because, as I found with my 'research' for the event, many Nordic interiors have white or cream plaster walls with only accent walls in colour.  They cost $7 and can be found in Paint and in Panelling.

Nordic Exterior Cladding
The second group is a pair of exterior walls for the café - one dark and one in paler birchwood.  These can be found under Siding also for $7.  The paler birchwood cladding (used on the interior of the balcony of the cafe) was not included in the original upload to GoS.

  Badstrand Cafe

This is the thread to describe the café lot (Badstrand Café) I made for Infinite Iterations for the Garden of Shadows Christmas in July event 2021.  I made a variety of CC for the lot and there are pictures of the lot here, the lot file itself (eventually) and links to the CC I made and used on the lot.  I have distributed the CC around the rest of the site because it all comes under different categories.  I will (eventually) post a file on Sims File Share with everything together in one rar file for convenience.  I'll post the link for that later.

This picture is a quick overview of the CC I made - it includes a table and chair inspired by Alver Aalto (a Norwegian designer); a planter inspired by Scandinavian design; potless plants; rugs; pictures and one of the interior walls

This is the exterior of the lot showing one of the exterior walls and the birch columns and gable piece

An interior show showing most of the CC in place

  Art Deco Fans
Posted by: maxon - 15-06-21, 11:14 AM - Forum: Walls, Floors and Terrain Paints - No Replies

This is my entry for the Sim Pearls Wallpaper Makes the Room contest for June 2021.  The theme was 'retro' and, as that is a fairly flexible term these days, I decided to make a 30s style art deco fan wallpaper with a toning plaster wall to go with it.  Special features include the geometric crown design and the lush cream fan pattern.

As usual, when I designed the walls, I went through a number of other possibilities and also include here three other colour ways using the same crown and skirting.  All designs are based on Art Deco style fan patterns.  There is a green fan design with a green plaster wall, a silver fan design with black plaster wall and a gold fan design with dark blue plaster walls.

  Decorative, Sculptures: Sundials
Posted by: maxon - 25-04-21, 09:21 PM - Forum: Buy Mode Objects - Replies (1)

This is my entry for the Garden of Shadows Daisy Chain Event April 2021.

My prompt was Shadow From the Past which made me think about past events and their effect on the present and future.  Old sins have long shadows...  However, that's a hard thing to mesh or retexture so I started thinking about the passing of time and ... timepieces.  I thought about wandering through a beautiful garden and finding a sundial marking the hours passing through the day.  So that's what I did.

First of all, I did some work on the garden sundial by SimArchitect over at MTS.  This was originally posted in 2008 and is a nice mesh though the textures are not so ... modern.  To be fair, it was made in the days when we didn't have such high quality video cards and screens and nobody then noticed the fuzzy textures quite so much.

I did quite a bit of work on the mesh.  It was originally based on the giant knight statue (from OFB) and the textures for that are quite complicated AND there are four main textures in the original package which SimArchitect replaced with his own all still in one package.  So, I removed some unnecessary LIFO textures (which are huge) and thus dropped the file size considerably, adjusted the bounding mesh and, more involved, added a new recolourable subset so the gnomon texture can be changed in game and recoloured as well as the face of the sundial.  I also adjusted the price, making it a bit cheaper and changed the way the value drops after purchase.  I left the original base texture in place but extracted the original recolours (because, to be honest, I don't really want to keep them myself).  So I include here, a new version of the mesh file, the three original recolours (called now RC1, RC2 and RC3) and added three more recolours of the face of my own and also now, four recolours of the gnomon.

Two of the faces I like, I'm not so sure about the terracotta one - still you can delete that one yourself.

  Mozart Silver Damask Papers
Posted by: maxon - 12-04-21, 11:22 PM - Forum: Walls, Floors and Terrain Paints - No Replies

This is my entry for SimPearls' Wallpaper Makes the Room for April 2021.  The theme was Damask and for the contest I made two walls - the base Mozart Silver Damask* wallpaper and a nice pale pink plaster wall to go with it (the actual pink is rather paler than it seems in the main picture because the lighting I used brings it out).

.zip   max_MozartSilverDamaskWalls.zip (Size: 348 KB / Downloads: 625)

But the set itself consists of 8 walls because I played around with the textures till I got the ones I wanted.  Some of the other combinations are also pleasing but you can only enter two into the contest.  There are two versions of the damask wall: one plain, one with a dado rail; there are two of the pink plaster as well - one with a dado rail the other plain; there are two grey plaster walls in the same format because I originally thought about being achingly tasteful and grey-on-grey is so refined (as you may know, that does not usually appeal to me) and finally there are two walls with a mix of the paper and the pink plaster with a dado rail separating the areas of the wall covering.

*the name comes from the site I downloaded the image

  Chinese Jade Wall Panels
Posted by: maxon - 26-03-21, 02:30 PM - Forum: Walls, Floors and Terrain Paints - Replies (1)

Back in 2015, I made some wall panels for NanaWildflowers over at MTS.  The textures, as I remember it, were taken from a swatch originally posted by daislia whose downloads and, now, site has long since vanished.  So these aren't the original files or textures.  As far as I know though, this is the only version of this CC now available.  I originally put them on Mediafire but I have lost access to my account there and they might eventually disappear so I thought I'd give them a permanent home here.

Not a great picture but you can see what they're like.

I'd normally put stuff like this in CC Fixins' but in this case I put them here because there are some other Eastern fresco panel walls to come and they make a collection.  Will post these later but in this thread I think.
