Decorative, Wall Art: NASA - JPL Travel Posters
Posted by: maxon - 05-01-19, 09:17 PM - Forum: Buy Mode Objects - Replies (2)

This post and upload was originally released on my tumblr.

Back in 2016, NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory posted a series of poster designs meant to reflect and celebrate their current research interests.  As I have a bit of a thing for vintage travel posters, I immediately made these into posters for the game.  I loooooove the images, especially as I’m also a bit of a space programme fangirl.

However, someone over at MTS beat me to it and I never uploaded them anywhere so I thought I’d belatedly upload them here.  I confess <whisper it> I’ve always preferred my own recolours of these (I think I framed them better).  <ahem> There are fourteen as follows:

Solar Planets

Moons and Dwarf Planets

And Extra-Solar Planets

They’re on the  Pineapple poster and you will need the CEP and Nightlife.

  Neighbourhood Cows
Posted by: maxon - 05-01-19, 09:10 PM - Forum: Neighbourhood Objects - Replies (1)

This post and upload was originally released on my tumblr.

Becks made a cow for neighbourhood decor - a long time ago now too since it was posted in 2010 - which was a great idea and I liked it.  BUT it was scaled much larger than Sunni’s excellent neighbourhood horses which I love with all my heart.  Here's a comparison picture, the original cow is on the left.  I was going to shrink the mesh but - busy - and then Shastakiss told me she’d already done it (hurrah!) so I thought I’d do some recolours.  Well, there starts a story.  I thought a simple colour replacement to start and then realised the original texture is … not so good.  And then the shadow is bad (as you can see) and the cows have the neighbourhood decor floating issue (common enough).

So I did some full on recolours using real cow hide!  Plus I removed the shadow and moved the mesh down a little to get their little hooves onto solid earth.  I got carried away and made some:

Friesians

Ayrshires

and Jerseys

plus the random black bull there.  As you can see I also fiddled with the mesh a bit to get a bull (moved down the stomach a bit, thickened the neck, reduced the udders - look I wasn’t willing to model bull balls so that’s the compromise) and some calves.  The calf mesh was thinned and shrunk, obviously, but also I changed the stomach a little, removed the udders and made the head slightly bigger in relation to the torso.  Also, I shrank the body front-to-back a little in an attempt to get more of a calf shape and lengthened the legs.  The bigger one is called ‘teen’ in the file name.

There’s also one more version of the Ayrshire in the rar file because when I totted it up originally there were thirteen files - and we can’t have that.  So 14 files altogether. They’re not perfect - the mapping is a little rough in places but I wasn’t up for remapping as well as retexturing and I’m not the world’s best mesher but I hope you like them.  I’m quite pleased with the textures and - bizarrely - I love that black bull.

I put them under Flora in the neighbourhood decor catalogues and they can be placed on lots.

Finally, what they look like from the neighbourhood view:

Thanks also to GreatCheescakePersona and Criquette for some lovely background stuff to set them off.

Splash of Colour Tiles - Variations
Posted by: maxon - 05-01-19, 06:51 PM - Forum: Walls, Floors and Terrain Paints - No Replies

These are one of the oldest sets of walls I ever made.  They're a very straightforward recolour of the in-game Splash of Sage tile - most useful in bathrooms.  They are found under wall Tiles and cost $7 just like the original wall covering.

Although these are several years old now, I have consistently used these throughout my gaming history with TS2 and have always found them useful for public bathrooms on community lots.  There are a lot of public bathrooms in Little Carping and surrounding areas with this wall treatment.  I think the council must have had a job lot contract.

So I offer them here (they were originally uploaded to T$R - hissssss).  Don't expect too much of the texture.  They really are a pretty simple recolour.  A swatch:

  Katvip's STALKER Shrub 01
Posted by: LemonSoup - 03-01-19, 03:56 PM - Forum: CC Fixins - Replies (2)

You said post a thread here about this so here it is.  Do you know why the shrub (01) from katvip's Stalker objects doesn't appear properly on lot or seems to get replaced by something else?  Link: http://kativip.ucoz.ru/load/kativip/sets...s/5-1-0-10

  Floral Selection Wallpapers
Posted by: maxon - 01-01-19, 11:28 PM - Forum: Walls, Floors and Terrain Paints - Replies (1)

So as my inaugural upload to this site - new content not available elsewhere, here are some wallpapers I was working on before Christmas based on some really attractive and bright and cheerful floral patterns (for sources, see below).

The papers are seamless when on the walls and have my commonest crown and skirting board (yeah, I have a collection!).  The crown is placed on the texture to fit under a ceiling properly.  Without a ceiling, you'll see a blank section of wall at the top. They are all found under Wallpapers and cost either $7 or $8.

Here's the swatch for the complete set:

And a picture showing all the papers over a few wall tiles - you can see they are seamless patterns.

I love working with colours and patterns and must have 100s of wallpapers and floors I made for the game.

Credits: Red Bouquet is from The Fat Strawberry; the Bellfield and Sanderson papers are from those wallpaper/fabric manufacturers; the Poppy patterns are from African Fabric Co.

SimsConnection Eloise Set Easy Chair Blue Recolour
Posted by: maxon - 01-01-19, 10:43 PM - Forum: CC Fixins - No Replies

So I was talking to a user over at MTS (http://modthesims.info/t/617800) about a missing recolour for this set.  The original creator had missed recolouring the easy chair in the blue recolour texture set.

It was a relatively easy fix to make a new texture for the chair so here it is for anyone else who would like it.

General Chat and Say Hi - Introductions
Posted by: maxon - 01-01-19, 10:00 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (23)

I opened this site to host my CC uploads for Sims 2 - it was not my primary intention to create a forum website for Sims discussion but as a host for my uploads.  However, if you want to talk, chat or ask questions, please feel free to post here.

So here's my intro:

I am the site owner - maxon - and I've been playing the game since it was released and have been making stuff for it pretty much since then.  I made stuff for TS1 too (I might just upload some of that stuff too eventually) and have even made stuff for TS3 as well (unreleased).  I made this site because I have a lot of stuff uploaded here, there and everywhere and I wanted - late in the day perhaps - to create a space where I could assemble everything together so I could keep it in order and update files easily should I need to.  Though I have quite a lot of stuff up on the net (here, there and everywhere), I have also amassed over the years a huge amount of unreleased stuff - so will be reviewing some of that and perhaps uploading those files as well.  Or some of them anyway.

  Site Rules
Posted by: maxon - 01-01-19, 09:39 PM - Forum: Site Rules - No Replies

tflc Rules

First of all, this forum is hosted by Interserver and operates under their Terms of Service.  You can read their ToS here: https://www.interserver.net/terms-of-service.html. Breaking Interservers’ ToS can lead to this board being closed.  Their rules are incorporated in the Rules for this board and are included below.

Site Purpose and Uploading Files
Secondly, this site is primarily intended as a home for Sims 2 content that I, maxon, the site owner, create for the game.  I wish to have a home for the CC and other things that I create to be available and shared with other players.  There is also a section created as a workshop to fix problems with files from other users (it happens – we all miss stuff when we make things) – this is the only section where CC other than mine can be uploaded and the person uploading said files will be me most of the time.

This is not, therefore, a site for users to share files.  You will find that you are able to upload files because the board had to be set to allow this so you, the user, can download files.  But I ask you to please respect my aims here and not upload files (unless invited) – any unauthorised files uploaded to the site will be removed.

Site Chat/Forum Threads Behaviour
Although the site was not created specifically for chat, I have no objection (at all) to people sticking around to engage in conversation.  I would like the site to remain a friendly and relaxed forum where we can discuss the Sims games (and other games) without provoking or attacking each other.

I don’t want this forum to be a restricted and prissy place but, at the same time, I will not allow bad or aggressive behaviour to pass.  I expect people to behave like adults if they post here and be respectful of other users.  Remember: people on the net will disagree with you.  Get over it.  Specifically:

Personal Attacks
Don't insult, provoke or harass other posters in a personal way.  Pointing out the flaws of a point or argument is normally permissible so long as it is not done in such an aggressive way as to become an attack in any case.  Example: an insult: "You are [e.g. dumb];" not an insult: "Your point is [e.g. dumb]."

Hate Speech
Don’t use intolerant or hateful terms, or be hateful towards any person or group of people.  I won’t accept intolerant language or slurs targeted at any race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. The same applies to mental illness, mental conditions, or disability.

Inciting, encouraging, or threatening physical harm against any another person or group is prohibited.  Posting images, videos, or linking to content showing people being physically harmed is also prohibited.  This is a games forum so fictional in-game violence may be shown or discussed (obviously).

No Spam
Spam for commercial sites, drugs, or other spam content will be removed and the perpetrator permabanned.

Piracy – No WAREZ
You may have your own opinion on piracy, but linking to or uploading pirated content is not allowed.  The use of doctored exe files can be discussed but not for pirating purposes.

Stay On (or Close to) Topic
We can all enjoy a joke, but lame or low effort pointless crap can quickly become irritating. Don’t.

Swearing
I have no objection myself to swearing but too much of it is usually, well, dull and pointless and off-putting.  So you can swear but be sensible.  I ain’t your momma.

Nudity/Porn/NSFW content
As a general rule, please don’t post.  Sexual content, erotic fiction, kink discussions etc. and generally being creepy is also not welcome.

User Privacy
Don't post other people's personal information without their permission (doxing).

Illegal Content/Copyright
Don’t post illegal materials or copyright-breaking stuff.

Moderation
Moderation will take into account context and will attempt to be sensitive to the user.  But I ask that you respect moderator decisions.  While I am generally pretty tolerant, please remember this is not a public space but my site and I can and will delete material I don’t like.  A warning will be given for a first offense but persistent disregard of the rules and intentions of this site will result in escalating the measures and will involve either a temporary ban or me wielding the permanent BANHAMMER as the ultimate measure!

If you have an issue with a moderation action, don’t continue to argue the case in the thread where you are moderated. Doing so will be considered bad faith and actionable. You can follow up any concern you have about moderation but please do so by Private Message.

Be excellent to each other and enjoy the forum.

This forum and site is not affiliated with EA Games and any content here does not reflect their attitudes or ideas.
